Huge thanks to our resident volunteers Huda, Cecilia, Anne Marie, Zoe, Gloria and Valerie and The Felix Project, who helped deliver over 30 free food parcels every week to Catalyst customers this summer.

The Felix Project delivered food collected from local supermarkets every week to our Friary Park Community Centre. Our team of enthusiastic volunteers were there to help unload the food, create and pack the food parcels ready for collection by families on the Friary Park Estate, who had registered to receive them. The parcels included vegetables, fruit, meat, yoghurts and more.

The total amount of food that would have otherwise gone to waste was approximately 270kg per week, making a total of around 2,160 kilograms of food distributed throughout July and August this year.

What’s next for the project

The Friary Park food parcel project started around two years ago with one-off offerings of free food parcels during school half-terms and holidays. The project’s popularity has seen it grow, and with the help of our resident volunteers, it’s now doing weekly deliveries to 30 families in the area.

How can I apply for a food parcel?

We regularly advertise free food parcels in our Friary Park newsletters, and you can also speak to any of our colleagues about how to apply when you’re chatting with them in your neighbourhood.

If you’d like to apply to collect a free food parcel, please get in touch with Nuria or Keisha.
