As part of out ongoing partnership with Back Yard Nature we’re supporting two young customers aged 7-25 years to join the Back Yard Nature, Green Youth Board.

Since we launched our Backyard Nature programme earlier this year, we’ve held gardening and sustainability sessions to support customers to learn more about everything from growing their own food to making bug hotels and creating seed bombs to planting wildflowers.

The next stage in the programme is supporting our young customers to influence the planning and implementation of future Back Yard Nature projects by joining the Green Youth Board.

What is the Green Youth Board?

As Catalyst’s two youth board members, you’ll join 12 young representatives from Back Yard Nature’s other partnering housing associations in the sector’s first Green Youth Board.

The group will lead the way in shaping the next stages of the Back Yard Nature programme and driving forward youth-led social action projects that tackle some of the challenges our communities face.

What we’re looking for in our Green Youth Board members

This is a fantastic opportunity to help anyone aged 7-25 years who is passionate about nature and the environment.

You’ll develop new communication and project management skills by sharing your views with other young people and helping to plan programmes and projects in your neighbourhoods.

You’ll need to be able to commit to one 2-hour online meeting each month and two face-to-face residentials over the next 12-months.

We’ll provide any additional training and personal development opportunities needed throughout your time as a youth board member.

How do I apply?

To apply to become a Green Youth Board member, you will need to complete an application form telling us why you’re interested and demonstrating your passion for environmental issues.

Please contact the Communities Project team at community@chg.org.uk to apply. The closing date for all applications is Friday, 7 January 2022.
