Catalyst have worked with two residents of Havelock to produce a short film about their move into the first completed phase of the Havelock regeneration.
This is the first in a series of films we plan to make about Havelock throughout the regeneration project. As well as exploring all the positive changes that the regeneration brings, we want to document the existing estate, which we know is precious to many residents. The films will also be a lasting tribute to Havelock’s strong community, which continues to thrive as residents become Catalyst tenants and move into their brand new homes.
For the first film, we interviewed two residents shortly before and after their moves into Phase 1a of the regeneration project. They discussed how they felt about moving, the changes their new homes have made in their lives, and their feelings about the regeneration overall. They highlight the high quality and increased convenience of their new homes, as well as the support they’ve had from Catalyst and the way the community has stayed strong throughout the changes so far.
The first phase of the Havelock regeneration will deliver 287 new homes. 53% of these will be affordable, with 47% for private sale. There will be no loss of social housing, and existing secure tenants and resident leaseholders will have first priority for the new homes. As well as new homes, the regeneration will deliver new and improved green spaces, designated over-55s’ housing, and new retail and community spaces fronting on the canal.
We hope the film will help to reassure residents whose moves are yet to come, as well as recording important changes in a unique part of London.
