Catalyst has been shortlisted for three highly prestigious SHIFT Awards – Best Sustainability Team, Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year and Most Improved Ever SHIFT Landlord.

The winners will be announced at the SHIFT Awards ceremony on the 30th November at Plaisterers’ Hall in London. Over 200 leading figures from the housing sector are expected at the event, which will be compered by leading environmental journalist Lucy Siegle.

This year SHIFT Awards organisers Sustainable Homes are celebrating 10 years of SHIFT accreditation and have highlighted the outstanding calibre of this year’s entries. They said, “this demonstrates that the drive to improve sustainability performance is still strong despite challenging times” and went on to say, “it’s fantastic to see sustainability projects thriving in the housing sector.”

The SHIFT Awards are the only awards open to the housing sector that focus on sustainability, celebrating exceptional projects that have an impact on the environment, the welfare of residents and the bottom line of organisations.

In this year’s awards a special new category has been introduced to recognise the ‘most improved ever’ SHIFT landlord, and Catalyst is one of five Housing Associations shortlisted for this award from a pool of nearly 100 leading multi-tenure landlords that have completed a SHIFT assessment in the last ten years. In being shortlisted for this award, Sustainable Homes have pointed out Catalyst’s leadership role in the field of sustainability and went on to say “Catalyst Housing has not only demonstrated consistent high performance over the years but has also achieved significant improvement since the first SHIFT assessment.”

SHIFT accreditation is evidence that an organisation is not only committed to improving sustainability but is backing its words with action and the highest performers are awarded Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum status. Catalyst was one of the first Housing Associations to achieve Gold status in the SHIFT Accreditation in 2012 having achieved Bronze in 2008 and Silver in 2010. No landlord has yet achieved Platinum, the highest award in the SHIFT Accreditation, and Catalyst is now planning how it can achieve this.

Last year Catalyst won two categories at the SHIFT Awards 2016 – taking home both the ‘Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year’ and ‘Best in Class – Office and Operations’ accolades. Catalyst also maintained its status as a ‘Gold’ level SHIFT landlord.
