Coronavirus update – new government measures

On Monday 23 March, the government announced stricter measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus and to keep people at home. You can read the full update on the official Coronavirus government website.

These measures are effective immediately and state that you should only leave home for specific or limited purposes, such as to:

  • Shop for the basic necessities such as food or medicine, and this should be infrequent (not every day)
  • Medical reasons, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
  • One form of exercise  day
  • Travelling to and from work, but only if it is ‘absolutely necessary.

Alongside these stricter regulations, it was also announced that certain services such as shops selling non-essential items, libraries and playgrounds would be stopped.

Gathering of more than two people including weddings and baptisms have been stopped, but funerals can still be attended.

The measures will last for three weeks from 23 March before being reviewed.

We understand that a lot of services you experience in your day-to-day life are changing. We wanted to update you on how this latest update from government will affect our key services to you.

As your landlord, we have a duty and a commitment to provide you with key services such as communal cleaning and urgent repairs at a time of crisis.

We announced on 18 March 2020 that we’re now offering an emergency repairs service only. Even through these stricter regulations from government, our emergency repairs service is still currently running. You can read the full details of this service on our website.

Hygiene has been and remains top of the agenda both nationally and here at Catalyst. We all have a responsibility to make sure that we are following government advice. We’ve increased cleaning in some areas and ask you to please keep communal areas tidy and clear as usual.

As it is for the whole nation, this is a new environment for us, so we’re constantly reviewing our service to make sure that customers and colleagues are safe.
