New board members for Catalyst

Thelma Stober
Christine Turner

Catalyst has announced that two new members have joined its board this month: Thelma Stober and Christine Turner.

Ms Stober is a solicitor and commercial mediator with extensive experience in the public sector. She heads the legal team at the Local Government Association, providing strategic legal support to LGA member authorities on issues with wider sector impact. She is also currently a trustee of the London Emergencies Trust and the National Emergencies Trust, chair of Herts Valley CCG Primary Medical Committee, ambassador for the One Voice Project, co-chair for Grenfell Memorial Commission and adviser on Central Government’s Victim’s Panel.

Ms Turner is the chair of Rosebery Housing Association and has joined following Catalyst’s partnership with the Surrey-based organisation. She has over 35 years’ experience in social housing as a senior executive, board member and regulator. Her expertise encompasses development, low cost home ownership, regeneration, and customer involvement. Alongside her roles at Rosebery and Catalyst, she also serves as the Chair of Magna Housing in Dorset.

Ian McDermott, Chief Executive of Catalyst, said: “I am delighted to welcome both Christine and Thelma to the Catalyst board. I know they will both play an important role in making sure Catalyst stays true to our values and continues to deliver our core social purpose, creating and managing homes people love.

“Thelma’s experience and qualifications speak for themselves and I’m very pleased to add her voice to our board. Christine joins us as part of Catalyst’s recently announced partnership with Rosebery Housing Association, and she also brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will help Catalyst grow and strengthen over the coming years.”

Jack Stephen left the Catalyst board earlier this month, after joining following the merger with Aldwyck Housing Association in 2019. He continues his role as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

More information on Catalyst

Catalyst is one of the leading housing associations in London and the South East, managing nearly 37,000 rented and shared-ownership homes.

We are experts in placemaking and developing tenure-blind neighbourhoods, with an approach to creative design, effective urban planning and high-quality development that is underpinned by our long-term interest in our neighbourhoods. By adopting a stewardship role, we ensure that the places we help to create are well maintained, look great and remain desirable places to live. A prime example of Catalyst’s work is our flagship regeneration project in North Kensington, Portobello Square.

Catalyst Communities, our social and economic investment arm, helps our communities grow with bespoke neighbourhood strategies that help deliver initiatives such as youth mentoring projects, after school homework programmes, exercise classes and much more. We also deliver an individual offer to our most vulnerable residents, with services such as financial inclusion courses to help people with their money; parenting support classes for young families and employment courses for those out of work.
