Our green scheme for young people arrives in 2020

We’re thrilled to announce that our community investment team has secured £55,000 funding to deliver the Young Havelock Greening Project from 2020-2023!

The programme, which is being delivered in partnership with Groundwork London, Sybil Elgar School and Belvue College, will help children aged 15-19 with special educational needs gain confidence and conservation skills through actively ‘greening’ the Havelock regeneration area in Southall.

The project’s nature sessions will include bulb planting, hedge laying and bat box building, and provide young people with a chance to socially integrate with the wider community and help to fulfil their potential as active citizens.

There’ll be community events and training opportunities for the young people involved too, to help build their confidence and develop their practical skills and knowledge too.

The project kicks off on 7 January 2020, and will be taking place throughout 2020. Our community investment team in Havelock are looking forward to working with everyone on the project, and we’ll keep customers updated on all the project achievements throughout the year.

The Young Havelock Greening Project has been match-funded by the John Lyon’s Charity  and the funding body, Awards for All.
