Blackbird Leys sparkles

Blackbird Leys ChristmasCrowds of Blackbird Leys residents turned out to see Lord Mayor Rae Humberston switch-on the estate’s first ever lights on 2 December.

At the event people were treated to carols from the Blackbird Leys Choir and local primary school children, and Christmas shoppers got the chance to buy festive treats at the Leys Community Market.

The 21-foot Christmas tree, now on display outside the Church of the Holy Family, was donated by Delteys Supermarket in Blackbird Leys Road using money from Nisa’s ‘Making a Difference Locally’ fund, which raises money from the sales of certain products to put towards local projects.

Catalyst supported the event, which was mainly organised by the Holy Family Church. To find out more about the community projects we support and run, visit the Catalyst Gateway section of our website.
