Make a blooming difference
More than 200 residents and volunteers gathered at the community garden in Westcott Park (Acton) to see what a blooming difference the group has made.
On the day people got the chance to explore the garden, take part in healthy cooking workshops, meet the garden’s chickens and bees, press freshly grown apples and plant some bulbs.
There were also stalls where people could buy honey, chutney and cakes – all produced from ingredients from the garden.
Just three years ago, the garden was overgrown and needed a complete clear. But through the hard work of the Westcott Park Community Garden Group and other volunteers, the garden has bloomed to a peaceful haven where people can grow vegetables, produce honey and hold social events.
Would you like to volunteer at a community project near you? As well as learning new skills, the work experience will look great on your CV.
