Catalyst scoops top prize at Affordable Home Ownership Awards

Catalyst Housing Group won the top award at the Affordable Home Ownership Awards 2011, being named the Affordable Home Ownership Provider of year. The top prize was awarded at a ceremony in London, and came shortly after Catalyst’s Caulfield Park development was named best regeneration.

In making their decision, the judges noted that Catalyst “demonstrated as a home ownership provider they succeeded in moving the industry forward, introducing outstanding schemes into the market, whilst considering the needs of the community and the environment “

Caulfield Park is the result of £24 million phase of the regeneration of the South Acton Estate. The estate – famously filmed as the fictional home of the Trotters in Only Fools and Horses, is being revitalised as part of a 15 year commitment to the area by Ealing Council. Catalyst Housing Group is carrying out the first two phases of this regeneration project.

The regeneration is transforming a tired post-war estate into a place where people actively want to live, rather than being a destination of last resort. Phase 2 of the regeneration replaces four dated residential blocks and garages with 254 brand new affordable homes, including 41 shared ownership properties which were launched to the public this. Sales have been so strong that just 3 properties still remain.

Group Chief Executive Rod Cahill said

“We’re very proud to have been named Affordable Home Ownership provider of the year. We don’t just build homes, we aim to be a catalyst to create better communities and to help people onto the property ladder. This award is testament to the work that everyone in the community has put in to make our estates great places to live.”
