First time buyers can get on the housing ladder at Dee Park

First time buyers who are desperate to buy their own home, but fearful that property prices are beyond their reach, should take a look at Dee Park where prices start from just £134,950; the lowest price in Reading for a brand new home. With a rise in property prices predicted from 2012 by some experts*, 2011 is the year when homebuyers should take the plunge and the low prices at Dee Park make this possible.

“Rental prices for a new one bedroom apartment at Dee Park are around £675-£725 a month, yet monthly mortgage payments on the same property could be as little as £630,**” says Kevin Ellis, New Homes Director at Romans Estate Agents. He adds: “Dee Park is an up and coming area and it makes a lot of sense to take advantage of the low rates on offer for early buyers.”

The New Year has seen a sharp increase in the number of people actively seeking a new home in the Reading area. Kevin Ellis comments: “Despite the tough economic conditions, we’ve been very encouraged by the noticeable increase in the number of motivated buyers in January; indications are that the housing market is picking up.”

The new homes at Dee Park are part of an extensive £150 million project to regenerate the estate, which is being led by Dee Park Partnership (DPP), a joint venture between Willmott Dixon Group and Catalyst Housing Group, in partnership with Reading Borough Council. In the first phase, DPP is building 140 homes for private sale and 124 homes for social rent. There will also be new outdoor sports facilities at Ranikhet Primary School, which can also be used by the wider community, and sections of roads are being renewed or improved.

Currently available for sale at Dee Park are one and two-bedroom apartments, and two and three-bedroom houses. Building work is progressing well and the first homes will be ready for buyers to move in around June. With very few new houses available for sale in the Reading area, these homes provide a great opportunity for families to take their first step on the housing ladder.

The homes at Dee Park are designed to achieve the Eco Homes rating of Excellent, and the homes are energy efficient to help minimise fuel bills.

Prices at Dee Park start from £134,950 for a one-bedroom apartment and £159,950 for a two-bedroom apartment. Two-bedroom houses are priced from £184,950 and three-bedroom houses from £204,950. A new marketing suite and five show homes will open at Dee Park in early April 2011.
