Brewers Hill Road, Dunstable
We are proposing to build 61 mixed tenure new homes at Brewers Hill Road in Dunstable, with 50% of the homes affordable (shared ownership, and rent).
About the site
The site is located at the junction of Brewers Hill Road and High Street North (The A5).
It was formerly part of a car components factory which closed in 2003 and was cleared in 2005. The site has been empty and unused since then and is now severely overgrown. A development brief, endorsed by the local planning authority in 2012, identified the site as a northern gateway to Dunstable Town Centre, and suitable for residential use.
In September 2017, Catalyst was granted planning permission to build 61 new homes which are a mixture of two and three storey houses, with a four storey apartment block set at the junction providing a prominent landmark building at this gateway to Dunstable. 100% of the homes are affordable (available via shared ownership and rent) which exceeds the council’s requirements. Work began on the project in early 2019.
The scheme will also include generous parking provision, with two allocated spaces per home plus 15 visitor spaces.
