Friary Park healthy cooking event
Friary Park residents recently took part in a delicious day of family cooking at our Friary Park Community Centre. The aim of the session was to develop cooking skills and share some quick, easy and affordable recipes for everyone to enjoy.
Everyone came together to cook lots of different recipes including a yummy aubergine and potato curry, a warming carrot and coriander soup, creamy mushroom stroganoff and chocolate-y banana muffins. Zeina from the Felix Project, also demonstrated how to master basic knife skills and chopping techniques for the group.
The Felix Project donated 16 crates of food including fruit, vegetables, rice, cooked meat and breads on the day. All donations are surplus food that usually end up as landfill until charities like The Felix Project step in. Thank you to Nocketa, a Friary Park resident, who volunteered with the project to help prepare bags of food to give out to the local community, and deliver the cooking workshop on the day.
We hope to work with The Felix Project again to offer similar free sessions on a more regularly basis. Please keep an eye on the notice boards at your community centre, and our social media channels for updates, so you can get involved too!
