The Printwoks, designed by Levitt Bernstein architects and delivered in partnership with Lovell, provides much needed new affordable homes for the town, making excellent use of a brownfield site close to the centre of Dunstable.

The homes create a new frontage to Brewers Hill Road and face on to a series of internal streets, designed to be accessible for both pedestrians and cyclists. The development also features several landscaped spaces, with street-facing green frontages and private back gardens. We’ve incorporated architectural features to reflect Dunstable’s history as stage coaching town, along with green space and planting for local wildlife.

One of the requirements of planning was for the inclusion of a piece of public art that reflects the local area. Catalyst commissioned Bedfordshire-based artist Wendy Briggs to work with pupils at Weatherfield Academy Special School to create Dunstable Downs inspired railing design to be installed at ‘The Printworks’ development.
