We welcomed back our summer programme at our centres in west London, Brent, Reading and Oxford this July and August – with activities and events for children and young people.
The programme wasn’t just about keeping the kids busy during the summer break though. In August we hosted a series of careers events to help young people plan for the future. These events included guest speakers, plumbing and tiling workshops – delivered by our contractors Engie and Chas West – offering information on different career paths including apprenticeships, further education, training and employment.
These activities and events couldn’t happen without our volunteers (made up of residents, colleagues and members of our local communities) who give up their time to help make sure everyone who came along had a fantastic fun packed time. Thank you to all our volunteers and partners who helped delivery another successful year. Additional thanks to Engie and Chas West for their generous donations to help fund many of the activities and events this summer.
Even though the summer is now coming to an end and our programmes are over for another year, the action doesn’t stop. We have regular activities and events happening across our centres throughout the year – from advice sessions and coffee mornings, to exercise classes and after-school clubs. Our community investment and employability teams also offer ongoing services and projects – such as mentoring, apprenticeship programmes, training courses, benefits and employability advice sessions. You can find out more about our community investment projects and services by dropping in to your local community centre or contacting us on 0300 456 2099.
