More than 80 people came along to a jobs fair at the Unity Centre, Brent, on 11 May.
They had a chance to meet local employers and hear about current vacancies. They also learned how to develop their job hunting skills, with workshops on different topics and advice on education and training options and apprenticeships for young residents.
The fifteen local employers who exhibited included the NHS, Department for Work and Pensions, Brent Works and Reed Recruitment.
One participant said, “It was such an interesting event and meeting with providers face-to-face was really positive in understanding what jobs and careers are available within London.”
Nadine Luben, an Employment Advisor with Catalyst, said, “The event was a great success and a wonderful opportunity for local residents to find out about career opportunities within their local area.”
The jobs fair was hosted by Catalyst in partnership with Brent Council, Hyde Housing, and Crisis. The Unity Centre offers a wide range of services including an IT suite and free internet access, which residents can use to help their job searching.
