We are very pleased to announce that Ian McDermott will take over as Chief Executive at Catalyst Housing when Rod Cahill retires at the end of this year.
Ian is currently Chief Executive at Aldwyck Housing Group, where he has been since October 2016. Before that, his career has included the roles of Chief Operating Officer at Sanctuary Group, and Chief Executive at Shaftesbury Housing Group, Riverhaven, and Stonebridge Housing Action Trust.
In all, Ian brings more than 30 years’ experience working in housing in London and nationally.
Catalyst will welcome Ian in January 2019, following Rod Cahill’s departure at the end of this year. Rod and Ian will be working closely in advance of this to ensure a smooth transition.
Speaking about his appointment, Ian said, “I am delighted to be joining Catalyst. It is a great organisation and I feel privileged to take over from Rod Cahill, one of the most respected figures in the housing sector. I very much look forward to working with the Catalyst team, and their stakeholders, to build on very firm foundations and deliver an ambitious agenda for the future.”
Richard Brown, Chair of Catalyst’s board, says, “We are delighted to appoint Ian McDermott as the organisation’s CEO. He is ideally placed to continue the excellent work of our departing CEO, Rod Cahill, to build more affordable homes and further improve customer experience.”
