Gas safety inspections during Covid-19

By law, we must check all gas appliances in our rented homes, every year, to make sure they are safe. Throughout lockdown we have continued to undertake these free gas safety inspections to all our homes.

If your annual gas inspection is due, our contractors will contact you directly to arrange for this to be undertaken in the usual way. Your appointment will take around 40 minutes.

We understand that you may be feeling cautious about letting an engineer into to your home at this time, but please be reassured that we are taking all the necessary steps to help keep you safe.

Helping to keep you safe

When an engineer visits your home, they’ll follow safety guidelines throughout their visit. They will:

  • Be wearing a visible identity card, protective gloves and a mask
  • Make sure they keep two metres, social distance
  • Have their own pen for signing documents to avoid potential contamination
  • They’ll stand up as much as possible, to avoid risk of cross contamination.

If you have a mask, gloves or other personal protective equipment (PPE) you may choose to wear it too. Once the visit comes to an end, we’ll need you to open the door for us and you‘ll both need to keep the two-metres distance while our engineer leaves your home.

Postponing your appointment if you are self-isolating

If you must postpone an upcoming safety inspection because you are self-isolating due to Covid-19, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange another appointment date for when you are feeling better.

Rebooking your appointment

We will send you a letter confirming the new date and time for your inspection. If this date and time isn’t convenient for you, please contact us so we can rearrange your appointment. You will find our contact details on page 2.

If you miss appointments or we can’t gain access to your home and you don’t get in touch, this is a breach of your tenancy agreement.
