Catalyst has completed the purchase of land on Soulbury Road in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard.
Housing association Catalyst plans to build over 50 homes on the site which will help meet the need for more affordable properties in the region.
The location of the new homes on Soulbury Road to the north of the town will have direct access to the major road networks including the town’s bypass, the A5 and the M1, and residents will be able to enjoy the walks and wildlife at neighbouring Linslade Wood.
News of the purchase comes as the Central Bedfordshire Local Plan 2015-2035 was adopted in July. The Local Plan sets out how Central Bedfordshire will develop over the next 20 years and outlines the strategy for how and where new homes, jobs and infrastructure will be delivered across the local authority area.
David Foster, Catalyst’s Director of Land, Partnerships and Preconstruction, said:
‘We’re delighted to announce the news of this purchase of land in the heart of the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. The site will enable us to bring more much-needed, high-quality affordable new homes to Central Bedfordshire.
‘As a considerate developer of affordable homes, we want to work with the town’s residents to understand their views and help reduce any negative impact during construction.’
