Could your Universal Credit payment be affected, if your December wages are paid early?
A lot of people who are paid monthly, are paid early at Christmas. For those that are on Universal Credit (UC), this could mean that both your November and December wages are counted as income in one assessment period, meaning you could be paid less UC.
What should I do if I’m worried about early wage payments affecting my UC entitlement?
If you do get your Christmas wages early, the best thing to do is update your UC online journal to let the DWP know that you’ve received two wages in one assessment period, asking them to assess your two months wages over two assessment periods.
If you don’t have an online UC account, you will need to contact the UC claim line on 0800 328 5644.
