Catalyst recruits two new development directors

Catalyst Housing has recruited two new Managing Directors to oversee the delivery of the new homes programme across London and the South East.

Richard Smith is Catalyst’s Managing Director for New Homes (London) and Andrew Almond will take over as Managing Director for New Homes (Counties).

Richard joins from Taylor Wimpey Central London where he was Development Director. Richard has overseen the delivery of major residential and mixed-use developments across many London boroughs and will lead the delivery of Catalyst’s new schemes in the capital.

Andrew will take on a similar role in the Counties region. Andrew has extensive development experience, having held a number of director-level posts at private developers and latterly within the housing association sector. Andrew will lead development across the Counties region, with particular focus on the Oxford-Cambridge corridor.

Richard said, “I am delighted to join Catalyst and help deliver the affordable housing that London so desperately needs. I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues and partners across London, we have some exciting projects coming out the ground at the moment, particularly at Friary Park in Acton, the Webb’s Industrial Estate in Waltham Forest and the later phases of Portobello Square in North Kensington.”

Andrew said, “This is an exciting time for Catalyst, and I am really pleased to be to be joining as we seek to deliver the growth strategy in the Counties. We have a representation spanning almost the whole of the Oxford to Cambridge corridor which helps give us a unique advantage for delivering homes in the region.”

Catalyst’s future development plans have an emphasis on delivering affordable rented housing and shared ownership housing, as well as a proportion of private sale. Catalyst plans to build on its experience of delivering excellent estate regeneration projects in and out of London, as well as purchasing land on the open market and working in partnership with both local authorities and the private sector.
