Have a Brew Monday
The third Monday in January has become widely known over recent years as ‘Blue Monday’. It’s claimed to be the most depressing day of the year – apparently due to a combination of bad weather, post-Christmas debt and the level of time passed for most people to have failed their new year’s resolutions. All resulting in a general feeling of low motivation and lack of enthusiasm. This year Blue Monday falls on Monday 20 January.
Our Reading team have plans to combat any feelings of gloominess, by holding a Brew Monday event to help people get together and connect over a warm cuppa.
The event will be at Oak Tree House from 10am-12 noon. It’s open to all Catalyst residents and anyone in the local community who wants to come along for some good conversation, a warm cuppa and some delicious cakes.
If that’s not enough to encourage you to come along, it’s going to have a vintage tea party theme and the cakes will baked using local Dee Park recipes from the Lost Museum cookbook.

Brew Monday is a campaign introduced by the Samaritans to help raise awareness and support for their work. All money raised goes towards answering phones calls, and helping people who are struggling or just need someone to talk to.
If you’re attending the Oak Tree House Brew Monday event, any donation – however big or small – can help bring some warmth to someone when they are having a tough time. We’ll keep you posted on how much money is raised too!
