Catalyst received planning permission for 100% affordable scheme
Catalyst has received planning permission from Wycombe District Council to build 19 new two-bedroom houses for affordable rent.
The scheme, built on the derelict site of a former sheltered housing scheme in High Wycombe, will provide genuinely affordable, modern accommodation at a below local market rent.
Designed by London based practice ZCD Architects, the new homes will be centred around a modern, communal green space – giving residents the chance to interact with each other and foster a genuine sense of place in the new development. Residents will each have their own on plot car port and easy access to the adjacent M40.
Victor Clinton-Dove, Director of Development at Catalyst said: “We worked closely with ZCD Architects and Wycombe County Council to develop an exceptional housing development on a challenging small site. Catalyst’s financial strength has enabled us to deliver 100% affordable housing – giving families and young people in Wycombe the opportunity to access long term, affordable accommodation.”
Dinah Bornat of ZCD Architects added: “It was challenge to create something unique and interesting for this small, sloping site. We think our designs create something that will be well-loved and well-used and we are delighted that the planning committee recognised this.”
Demolition works for the existing site buildings is expected to start in the spring, with the new homes completed in 2019.
