Brent Summer Project wraps up with a fabulous finale

Our Brent Summer ProgrammeOn Friday 26 August, the Brent Summer Project held its finale showcase and family BBQ at the Church End & Roundwood Unity Centre.

The event celebrated the time and skills that members of the local Brent community volunteered over the four-week Summer Project to provide a safe and fun holiday scheme for children aged 8 years+ from local neighbourhoods. All volunteers were trained and supported to help deliver the programme and make it a success.

This year, the Brent Summer Project engaged 89 young people, offering them a host of activities from healthy cooking and crafts, to sports and outdoor games, to creating and producing their own short films and music videos.

Volunteering in the community can make things happen and we got loads of volunteers – trained and supported.

The day of the finale saw performances, dance routines, trophy awards and much more from the young people, showcasing skills learnt throughout the project. There was also a screening of a music video made by the young people themselves.

As part of the showcase, three international artists performed with young people, including DJ Jahfet and Artist Priceless.
