Edgware residents enjoy a ‘Holiday at Home’ summer festival

Residents of the Catalyst sheltered housing scheme Wood Court, in the Edgware area of North London, have recently enjoyed a Holiday at Home summer festival

Held 3-5 August 2016, the event was a celebration of over-55s in the scheme and also living in the surrounding local community.

Over the three days, attendees enjoyed a great variety of activities and support. There were manicures and massages to keep fit classes, and also bingo to line dancing and yoga. The police, Age UK and the Dementia Manifesto Group set up stalls offering vital information and support. Entertainment included a magician and a steel band – and of course, a different delicious lunch was served each day.

As well as being great fun for all, the festival was a fantastic opportunity for Wood Court residents to get to know people from the community around them; and for older people outside the scheme who may be more isolated to make contact with important support services.
