Top design recognition for two Kilburn developments

Ely Court and Kilburn Park have both won the Mayor of London’s Housing Design Award.

The accolades for the two schemes, which provide housing in the South Kilburn area of London, were announced at a Beyond Housebuilding seminar held on 11th July 2016.

People living in the properties also recognise the high-quality design of the buildings. Interviewed for a video about the winning schemes, one resident praised her home because: “I didn’t feel I was coming into a social housing apartment. The space is amazing. The ceilings are nice and tall. You got big windows.”

The 43-homes Ely Court was designed by Alison Brooks Architects, and the 101-homes Kilburn Park was designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands Architects. Catalyst and Brent Council were the developers, with Willmott Dixon as contractor.

There may be further recognition for Ely Court as the development has been nominated in the inaugural AR Housing awards, which is a worldwide competition.
