Reading youngsters learn about mechanics
Last week Catalyst Gateway, Reading Borough Council and Groundwork ran auto-skills taster sessions in four locations in Reading in a bid get young people interested in mechanics.
The aim of the project was to reach out to young people who are at risk or are involved in motorbike nuisance between the ages of 10 and 15- years-old.
At the sessions, we managed to get 26 people involved where they built a Land Rover engine from scratch, changed wheels and checked brake pads. The activities were enjoyed by all and we hope to run more in summer to work with young people to develop their skills further and gain confidence.
