Fun and Info Day helps Brent residents
Brent residents and their families took advantage of the many services, activities and stall on offer at the Fun and Information Day at the Unity Centre on Sat 21st November. The event covered support in key areas that most affected local residents as part of the one year anniversary of the Brent Neighbourhood Plan, including employment and training with support from local partner LIFT, finances and healthy living with support from partners at Brent Council. As well as providing fun and creative activities such as laser quest, face painting, an open mic session, and mosaic art workshops that proved popular with younger residents. Residents also got to have their own smoothie recipes made and sample healthy and tasty vegan food.
As part of the event residents got a look at the new Unity gym which has been proving popular, and there was an unveiling of a new art mosaic with the proud creators in attendance. The mosaics are the result of residents gaining and improving their creativity and teamwork skills on last summer’s accredited community arts course from our partners Arts4Space, which is running agin this year.
There were also some great results for residents in terms of identifying savings through Catalyst’s Energy and Sustainability Officer Stephen Edwards, who identified for one resident potential savings of £335 a year in energy bills for switching their tariff. Whilst through the Neighbourhood Plan so far over 20 catalyst residents have been helped through our Do$h service over the past year to manage their money, access grants, deal with debts and maximise incomes.
