Wornington goes greener

Volunteers dig on Wornington Green

The Wornington Green estate (north Kensington) will certainly be going greener thanks the hard work of our green fingered volunteers.

The group donned their gloves and picked up their tools to install new plants across the estate in March.

The project is a partnership between Catalyst, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Farm the City, and aims to:

  • Improve and maintain the appearance of the existing Wornington Green estate
  • Facilitate residents to create a free food trail
  • Give people the opportunity to meet one another and learn new skills

Farm the City will also be hosting monthly gardening sessions in partnerships with our Community Gardening Group on the second Saturday of every month from 10am to 1pm.

We are currently regenerating the Wornington Green estate. Our plans for the area include building 538 quality affordable homes of mixed sizes and 20 new retail units for Portobello Road – generating up to 200 new jobs. A connecting road will be constructed to better integrate the estate into the surrounding community and a new community centre will be built.
