Fun day attracts local crowds

Thank you RINearly 60 people turned out to our open day at Michael Gaynor Close, in west Ealing, on Saturday 12 July.

The fun packed event included a:

  • keep fit session
  • football tournament
  • karate demonstration
  • barbecue feast

Residents also got the chance to give Catalyst their views on how their community can be improved and how residents can work better with Catalyst.

We worked with residents to organise the event because local people told us they wanted to get more information on Catalyst’s services as well as services from external partners and local community groups.

And that’s exactly what they got at the information displays from Catalyst Gateway’s employment and skills team, the Do$h project, Credit Union For You and the Tenancy Support and Community Action Project Ealing.

There was also wider and active community involvement at the event. The Catalyst Elders Forum members got the chance to showcase jewellery at their stall and the Apsley House Residents Association had a textile design stall.

The Catalyst Residents Federation gave £500 towards the event, and members were also on hand to talk with residents about getting involved at Catalyst.keep fit_Craig

The day had great results including:

  • The formation of a new residents’ association, with 15 residents signing up to become members of the group
  • Several residents expressing an interest in getting involved in Catalyst residents’ groups and forums
  • One vulnerable resident being put in contact with a local tenancy support team
  • Residents getting sponsorship from local businesses including Morrisons, Lidl, Papa John and Iceland
