Time to test

Did you know over 200 people in England die every year in fires in their homes and those without a working fire alarm are four times more likely to die. These are often caused by candles, cooking accidents and faulty electrical appliances – especially heaters and wiring. Check your fire alarm on the first of every month and see if it’s working before it’s too late.

I don’t have a fire alarm to test?

The fire services provide free home safety checks and in many areas, this includes fitting a free smoke alarm. Fire officers will also advise you about making your home safer. Get a free fire safety visit from your local fire service:
