Innovative Hounslow eco-housing shortlisted for prestigious national award
The Greenway is a development of 18 new affordable eco-homes, designed to the highest environmental standards and built on a reclaimed former garage site. Designed by architects MEPK, it was built by Willmott Dixon Housing for Catalyst – one of the south east’s largest housing associations. The Greenway boasts a range of innovative energy and water efficiency features and has achieved the coveted code 6 level of the “Sustainable Homes” standard, making it exceptionally environmentally-friendly.
The Sustainable Housing Awards put the spotlight on the best green social housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a ceremony hosted by the award winning stand-up comedian, TV and radio regular Josie Long on Friday 18 October at the Lancaster London Hotel.
Jess McCabe, Editor of Sustainable Housing magazine, said: ‘Now in their sixth year, the Sustainable Housing awards 2013 have, once again, been inundated with entries from the leading organisations featuring the most innovative and impressive projects in the UK. It is a brilliant achievement for Catalyst and Willmott Dixon to be shortlisted in the face of such fierce competition. We are thrilled to be able to host the awards ceremony that recognises the work of the housing sector’s sustainable pioneers.’
The sponsors of the awards include: Breyer Group, H + H, Higgins, NHBC, Profile 22, Rockwool, Sustainable Homes, United House and Wates Living Space.
