What we do

Portobello SquareCatalyst is a housing association. We provide housing solutions and opportunities for those who can’t afford a home without our help. We fund our activities through building and selling homes, and through income from our rented properties. We are a not-for-profit, charitable organisation with a turnover of c. £170 million. In 2018 we made the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For (Not for Profit).

There are more than 600 of us, spread across multiple teams and locations, with our Head Office based in Ealing, London.

Customer Services

Delivering excellent customer experience is one of our core corporate objectives. We respond directly to customers’ issues and queries, making sure they feel empowered and supported. We handle queries, manage repairs and maintenance, and work with residents to help them get the most from their homes and shape the way they interact with us. Our work helps make sure our residents have a great experience of living in their homes and using our services.

People and Culture

We help attract the very best talent for Catalyst, keeping them motivated,very satisfied and safe in their work, and enable a high-performing and vibrant culture. Our teams include people functions, facilities management, communications, engagement and business transformation.


We develop, maintain and deliver the IT systems that keep all parts of Catalyst running smoothly. We’re always seeking to improve and meet the needs of colleagues and customers in an ever changing world.


Finance help keep our business on track by providing the strategic support we need to keep running, growing and planning for our future, as well as managing our income, accounts and balance sheets.

Property and Growth

Our Property and Growth directorate are responsible for developing Catalyst’s new homes. We acquire land, provide expertise on design and construction, and ensure homes meet the highest safety and quality standards. We also market and sell our high quality outright sale homes, and ensure they create the profits to keep Catalyst building outstanding new affordable housing.

Governance and Compliance

Our Governance and Compliance directorate ensures that Catalyst is well governed and operates in a way that is compliant with legislation, regulation and our own rules and policies. This helps to keep us and our business safe. It includes Company Secretarial, Health and Safety, Business Continuity, Policy, Insurance, Risk and Internal Audit.
