Catalyst has been recognised as one of the most sustainable housing providers in the country
Running Catalyst sustainably is central to our business. Ensuring that we meet the needs of the present without compromising those of future generations is not only good for the environment, but good for our residents and our employees.
Sustainability – what it means to us
At Catalyst we see sustainability as incorporating the issues of climate change, water management, green procurement, energy efficiency, energy generation, sustainable travel and carbon emissions. Find out more about what sustainability means to us.
Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow
Catalyst is one of only two housing providers nationally to achieve gold in the SHIFT sustainability benchmarking scheme.
The SHIFT benchmarking highlighted our performance in the following areas:
• Actively engaging employees on issues such as energy, waste and transport
• Diverting 100% of office waste from landfill
• Giving residents advice on energy, food waste and water efficiency
We joined SHIFT in 2008, entering at bronze standard and have achieved gold in just four years.
How we’re reducing our environmental impacts
We have made a number of commitments towards building and maintaining better, greener homes and sustainable communities.
The Greenway, our flagship sustainable development, has won a number of awards and our Reading eco-homes project has led the way in trialling ways of refurbishing older properties to improve energy efficiency.
We want to help our customers deal with the changing climate and ever increasing utility prices.
We are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and support a better and more sustainable future for our residents, our communities and our employees.
