Meal time at the Milap Day Centre

Meeting friends

Every day a delicious meal is served at the Milap Day Centre for our more elderly or frail members. Around 25 men and women enjoy traditional Asian dishes provided by a local restaurant.

This number rises to over 150 people on special occasions. A charge of £1.80 is subsidised by a grant from Ealing Council.

Ajit Singh comes to the centre most days, and has met new and old friends here: "They know my village and I know theirs. We talk about our families and how we used to farm the land. One of my friends reads the paper aloud for the rest of us and we talk about what is happening."

Bi-lingual bingo is a popular weekday activity. Numbers are called in English and Punjabi, as well as being displayed for users who cannot read or write. We also have an excellent stock of Asian and English newspapers, periodicals and books in our reading rooms.

With groups playing animated card games or debating the latest news is can sometimes get very lively!
