Arshad Mughal makes about 100 cups of tea every day, and many more if there is a party going on.

Managing the centre

Our staff, volunteers and committee work together to mange our two sites and many services. They have built up close relationships with users which helps to create the friendly atmosphere

All our services are dependent on the commitment of our excellent volunteers. Whether it is running reception, shopping trips, running a yoga class, translating, advice work or giving a foot massage - we just could not do without them.

Bhupendra Naker (left) started working at the centre on a government training scheme. He would like to find a job, but in the meantime he likes helping at the Day Centre.

The Southall Day Centre was the first black and minority ethnic group in the country to receive the Investors in People award. Santosh Kanwar, the Southall Day Centre's manager (pictured right) felt that the award provides recognition for the good work that the centre is doing.
