Our training courses help our members improve their job prospects, life skills and self-confidence.

English

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is taught at both centres. It will improve your communication and your confidence. You’ll get a qualification that employers will recognise, and you can be proud of! Qualifications are:

  • ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at Skills for Life Cambridge Qualification
  • Pre-Entry Level at College Certificate, Entry 1–Entry 3 at Cambridge Qualification

Sewing and dressmaking

Creative Art (fashion and soft furnishings) runs at the Western Road centre. It’s a popular course. Participants have loads of fun and learn valuable new skills. Qualifications are:

  • NOCN Creative Craft Skill Embedded with Progression Qualification, available at Levels 1-3 (2 years)
  • NOCN Soft Furnishing available at Levels 1-3 (2 years)

Computer skills

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) computer courses run at the Western Road centre where we have an IT facility. Being able to use a computer is an increasingly vital skill. This course will take you through the basics at your own pace. The qualification is called NOCN Entry and Level 1 in Information and Communications Technology (1 year). There is also a crèche available.

Fees

College fees apply to the courses and students should not have any time limit on their stay in the UK. Ring 020 8574 0902 to find out the latest course fees. However, if you’re receiving the following benefits, you won’t have to pay course fees. (Make sure you can produce evidence of your entitlements):

  • Job seeker’s allowance
  • Income support
  • Working tax credit
  • Housing/council tax benefit
  • Pension credit (guarantee)
  • Asylum seeker’s assistance

Join a course

Enrolment starts from mid-July. Classes start in the first week of September and finish by the first week of July in the following year. You can join a course after it’s started. The classes are normally half-day sessions. Thre is a crèche available. Ring 020 8574 0902 or visit the centre to find out more.
