Transferring ownership

Transfer of ownership of your home

At Catalyst, we are conscious of the fact that at times, circumstances may change within households. For instance, you may want to add or release a person from the lease. In order to go ahead with this, there are a number of things which you have to do, before Catalyst Housing consents to a change in the ownership of your home.

  • You should instruct a solicitor to act for you in this matter
  • You will need to provide us with an undertaking from the person to be removed or added to the lease or equity loan agreement, confirming their consent
  • If you have a mortgage, contact your building society or lender to advise them of your intentions as they may have their own criteria which you will have to meet
  • You must also satisfy Catalyst that you are able to maintain the outgoings associated with home ownership

When all the relevant paperwork has been received, Catalyst will be in a position to review the case before granting approval.

Once consent has been given, your solicitor will need to provide us with a signed copy of a TR1 form for execution by the Association and, on completion of registration, a copy of the Land Registry document. This will enable us to update Leaseholder or Equity Loanee details on our database.

If you are adding a name to a shared ownership lease there will need to be a Licence to Assign and Charge, for which there will be an additional cost.

The administration fee for the transfer consent application is £50 and is non refundable.
