Registering improvements

When you staircase, we will record any improvements you wish to register and take them into account when setting the amount you need to pay for your extra share. Please note that we consider an improvement to be anything that has been added to your property and therefore, we may not register replacements. 

It is a requirement that you seek permission before carrying out any structural changes to your property. You will need to provide plans and details of the contractor who will carry out the work. In some instances, if the work is extensive, our surveyor may need to visit your home. You will need to provide us with invoices and receipts.

Some leaseholders have an expectation that the value of their home will increase by the full amount that they have spent on the changes made to their property. This is not always the case. For example, you may spend £6000 on a modern kitchen, but the valuer may determine the added value to the property to be no more than £500.  

We require a qualified valuer to assess the values.
