Saving energy

Top tips to keep your fuel bills down

Saving energy reduces your fuel bills. It also helps the environment. The average household can save up to £300 a year by using less energy.

Top tips

  • Draw your curtains at night
  • Don’t leave the tap running
  • Have showers instead of baths
  • Don’t fill the kettle to the top unless you need to
  • Don’t leave your TV or other devices on standby
  • Turn your thermostat down
  • Wash clothes with a full load and a low temperature
  • Use energy saving light bulbs and turn lights off
  • Recycle your rubbish
  • Move furniture away from radiators so the heat can flow
  • Insulate hot water pipes
