Case studies

Homeownership Westminster

We manage and deliver, Homeownership Westminster, a service commissioned by Westminster City Council.  We help the many people who are aspiring to own or rent their own home, but are presently unable to access Westminster’s largely unaffordable private housing market. The service we provide includes:

• managing a register of individuals eligible for homeownership opportunities in Westminster
• raising awareness of the service to all potential beneficiaries
• providing comprehensive information and advice on appropriate opportunities available to individuals
• acting as a preferential referral service to housing providers of specific intermediate housing options, by assessing and prioritising interest in accordance with Westminster City Council requirements
• developing a thorough understanding of the evolving needs and aspirations of existing residents to facilitate the development of a broader range of desired products
• helping eligible individuals find specialist advice, such as debt advice, to improve residents’ future chances of securing offers of intermediate housing

Thames Valley Police Equity Loan Scheme

Catalyst worked together with Thames Valley Police in developing this bespoke equity loan product. We administer the scheme on their behalf. It’s aimed at all employees, not just those eligible as key workers and not just first time buyers. Our service includes:

• setting up procedures and policies
• assessing eligibility and affordability
• appraisal of property once found
• management of conveyancing process
• liaising with solicitors and independent financial advisors
• providing Thames Valley Police with copies of documentation
• dealing with the legal charge
• providing a monthly report of details of ongoing cases
• assisting Thames Valley Police in marketing the scheme to their workers
