Catalyst appoints United Living for regeneration development in Royal Borough

F10 Studios LtdCatalyst has announced United Living as the construction partners on Phase 2A of Portobello Square, its flagship regeneration development located next to the world famous Portobello Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. The design and build contract will include an option to be extended to include Phase 2B.

Designed by Conran + Partners from PRP Architects’ Masterplan, Phase 2A of Portobello Square will deliver 91 new homes (60 at social rent and 31 for private sale). Demolition of the existing buildings is well underway and construction will begin on site in July 2017, with handovers expected to be complete by spring 2019.

Catalyst’s residents were involved with the selection process and were integral in making sure the right contractors were chosen. United Living showed that they would deliver high quality homes on time and on budget and that they would work hard to reduce the amount of disruption throughout the construction period. United Living will also manage an employment and training initiative for Catalyst’s customers, offering roles through its apprenticeship scheme, “United into Construction”.

F10 Studios LtdOnce complete, Portobello Square will deliver approximately 1,000 new homes, over 3,000sqm of commercial space and 9,000sqm of public space. Catalyst will be re-providing social rented housing for all of the current residents as well as developing homes for sale and shared ownership. The neighbourhood has been designed to reconnect the community to the surrounding areas by reproducing the original street pattern from the early 20th century.
