Harrow residents choose Catalyst to take forward estate regeneration

Residents of Mill Farm Close estate, Harrow have voted overwhelmingly in favour of Catalyst Communities Housing Association (CCHA) becoming their landlord.
The successful ballot means that all 99 tenants on the estate will now be transferred from Harrow Council to CCHA, who will now take forward plans to regenerate the run down estate.
A total of 81 of the 99 tenants on the estate voted, with 71 of these voting ‘Yes’. This translates into a resounding 88% endorsement of Catalyst’s plans to transform the neighbourhood.
In addition to the tenants, Mill Farm Close also has 34 leaseholders who were given the opportunity to participate in the ballot – although as non-tenants of the council their view would not be factored into the final decision making numbers – of the 19 leaseholders that came to vote, 100% voted in favour of the stock transfer.
A planning application for the regeneration has been submitted to Harrow Council on 20 October. This will be presented to the planning committee in January 2010 and if successful, Mill Farm Close will transfer to become tenants of CCHA in March 2010 with construction commencing in April 2010.
