The Deputy Mayor of Ealing, Mrs Diana Pagan, visited Southall Day Centre on Friday 3rd October to help it celebrate 25 years of working in the local community.

Santosh Kanwar, Southall Day Centre Manager said "The Centre was founded in 1978 to meet the needs of first generation Asian immigrants many of whom felt isolated and lonely. Over the years the centre has not only reflected the evolutionary development of the Asian community, it has adapted and developed to meet the needs of other older people who have come to live in the area."

Southall Day Centre has been working very closely with statutory service providers and local agencies over the last year to expand the services it is able to offer the local community. Many of these were present for the 25th celebrations including the Pension Service which had earlier this year chosen the Southall Day Centre as the first site for its weekly pension surgeries which now provides an accessible local referral system covering a whole range of pension problems.
