South Acton, Ealing, W3
Catalyst was responsible for the first two phases of the regeneration of the South Acton estate (originally owned by the London Borough of Ealing). In phase 1 demolition of a tower block and use of derelict land provided sites for 86 new homes. Work on this phase finished in 2004.
Phase 2 was the winner of the ‘best urban regeneration project’ in the First Time Buyer Readers’ Choice Awards 2011 and winner of the ‘best regeneration project’ at the 2011 Affordable Home Ownership Awards, where Catalyst also won Affordable Housing Provider of the Year.
The £45m phase 2 of the regeneration replaced four dated residential blocks and garages with 254 brand new affordable homes, including 96 shared ownership properties. Phase 2 was completed in November 2011.
Catalyst and Ealing Council have worked hard to facilitate community regeneration through a variety of initiatives including access to employment, training and personal development support as well as the sponsorship of a local youth football team.
