Fortunegate Community Housing Elders' Forum

Three ladies from the Elders ForumWe know that some of our older residents may face difficulties, such as health or mobility problems, which can lead to loneliness or depression. We fund a range of projects to support our senior residents, many of whom live alone, helping them to take full advantage of all that their community has to offer them.

Based in Brent, Fortunegate Community Housing’s 100-strong Elders Forum enables residents aged over 60 years to meet up each month to enjoy each others’ company and learn about the latest initiatives and services available. The Forum also hosts daytrips and other activities to keep its members active, interested and stimulated.

“I’ve been in it from the beginning,” explains Elders’ Forum Chair, Iris Brown. “As Chair, I will find out about local services and then let our members know at the Forum meetings. We discuss everything that matters to us as older people and we arrange trips and social events. It’s great to get out, have some fun and mix with other people. It’s successful because the Forum belongs to its members – everyone has their say, everyone is treated equally, everyone’s contribution is valid.”
