What is the Tenancy Support Service?
The service aims to:
- support you in keeping up your tenancy or lease – this includes complying with your agreement with us and paying your rent and other charges
- help you use services that we and other organisations provide.
Why might I need help?
You might need help if you:
- are living on your own for the first time
- have just left care
- have just become a resident with us
- have a physical, mental or learning disability or impairment
- think someone else is behaving anti-socially
- are finding it hard to keep up with your tenancy or lease
- have been a victim of crime
- have lost a partner, family member or someone else who was previously supporting you
- have rent arrears or are struggling to pay your rent and other charges
- have a substance-misuse problem and/or alcohol dependancy
- have just come out of hospital
- are suffering from harassment or domestic violence
- are in debt and need advice
- need extra support to find a new home.
What help is offered?
We can:
- support or advise you on keeping to your tenancy or lease conditions
- develop your social skills in dealing with others
- advise and help you when you talk to other agencies
- inform you about cultural resources; for example Southall Day Centre offers services to elderly people from the Indian sub-continent or East Africa
- tell you what health services are available
- help you budget and manage your money
- offer emotional support, informal counselling and advice
- help you claim welfare and housing benefits
- help you stay safe and secure
- support you in finding training, education and work
- put you in touch with other sources of support, for example counsellors
- help you use community and social services.
