South Acton Estate, phase 1

Phase 1 of the South Acton estate regeneration was a development of 64 rented and 22 shared ownership new homes built on the site of a 22 storey tower block in the centre of the South Acton estate.

The Section 106 agreement obligations resulted in investment in the general estate environment, and in a contribution to a new London Borough of Ealing community centre. The development achieved high levels of local labour, construction training, and work with the local school, including the mural along the site hoarding painted by local school children.

The scheme includes 64 new homes for rent, of which 80% are two or more bedrooms, and 22 new shared ownership homes, of which 77% are two or more bedrooms. The scheme achieved Housing Forum Demonstration Project status, because of the innovative bespoke legal agreement that linked the Catalyst Housing Group and London Borough of Ealing partnering build contracts with Higgins PLC together under a strategic partnering umbrella.

Catalyst Housing Group has been selected to be Ealing's partner on Phase 2 of the redevelopment, which will have approximately 850 new homes, and will include a range of tenures, including outright sale, and mixed use in a commercial 'hub' which fits into an Urban Design Framework for the regeneration of the entire estate.
